Retired Equine Teachers

Coby a former EAL teacher at Little Oasis EAL

COBY

2003 - Aug 23, 2024 Coby was a AQHA gelding that jumped into my trailer when I was in Alberta saying "I want to do this work!" Coby loved attention, and would eagerly follow humans at will. He had a loving curiosity and was happy to teach any human he came into contact with.

THUNDER

Our 1994 Shetland pony gelding Thunder left us to become a companion horse on August 9th 2021. As a small-statured horse, Thunder fit in amazingly with the Little Oasis herd! He was kind and gentle but sassy and loved to teach leadership. We will miss you but are so happy you have a perfect home to live out the rest of your years.

JEWELL

Jewel is a 2000 Welsh mare. She came to us having an extensive history as a lesson horse from the lower mainland. She is a powerhouse of energy and insists upon clarity of intention.

HALLE

Halle is 2010 AQHA mare who was with our program for a short while and has moved on to her new home. She was a sensitive, keen, patient teacher.

BETTY

1993 - April 15, 2021 Morgan/Tennessee Walker mare. Betty was loving, sweet, very sensitive and loved rolling in the mud! You were the foundation and heart of our Equine Assisted Learning program and we miss you dearly! View our Memorial Slideshow of Betty on Facebook

“I believe that horses bring out the best in us. They judge us not by how we look, what we’re wearing or how powerful or rich we are, they judge us in terms of sensitivity, consistency, and patience. They demand standards of behavior and levels of kindness that we, as humans, then strive to maintain.”
